  • Super Simple: This recipe uses a rotisserie chicken (or pre-cooked chicken) and bagged slaw mix, these simple shortcuts mean you can assemble it and get it on the table in no time at all.

  • Versatile and Easy to Customize: Try different barbecue sauces to switch up the flavor or add in your favorite extra ingredients like pickled or fresh jalapeños, avocado, or even a sprinkle of crispy onions. Just keep in mind that the nutrition information will change.

Ingredients

  • 2 lavash wraps or 6 small tortillas (I used Joseph’s Lavash)

  • 12 oz store-bought rotisserie chicken breast (about both breasts), shredded

  • 1/4 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce

  • 1/2 bag of cabbage slaw mix (about 7 oz) - this might also be labeled as "coleslaw mix"

  • 1/3 cup Bolthouse Farms ranch or 5 tablespoons Greek yogurt mixed with ranch seasoning

  • 1/2 cup reduced-fat shredded cheese (cheddar cheese or pepper jack would be great!)

  • A few pickles, chopped

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep and Season the Chicken: In a large bowl, toss the shredded chicken (or leftover chicken) with the barbecue sauce. Mix to coat the chicken.

  2. Make the Slaw: Add the cabbage slaw mix and ranch dressing (or Greek yogurt mixed with ranch seasoning) to a medium bowl. Season with salt and black pepper and toss to combine.

  3. Build Your Wrap: Gently warm the lavash or tortillas in a dry skillet over medium-high heat, then lay it on a cutting board and spoon about 6 oz of the chicken mixture onto the center of the wrap.

  4. Add the Toppings: Spoon slaw over the chicken, then top with about ¼ cup of shredded cheese and some chopped pickle.

  5. Roll Up the Wrap and Serve: Tightly roll up your wrap and slice it in half. Repeat the process with the second wrap, then enjoy!

How to Meal Prep These Homemade BBQ Chicken Wraps

If you want to use this tasty wrap recipe for meal prepping, first prep all of your ingredients (add the sauce to the chicken, shred the cheese, etc), then store them in individual airtight containers in the fridge so that you can quickly and easily assemble your wraps when you’re ready to eat and they’ll still taste fresh!

Swaps and Substitutions

  • Sauce: Try switching up the barbecue sauce you’re using so that you get a slightly different flavor. It's an easy way to put your own twist on the recipe to suit your taste buds. Love Carolina barbecue sauce? Try a Kansas City or Alabama version for something different. You could even use buffalo sauce for a completely different flavor.

  • Cheese: You can choose whichever cheese you’d like to include in this wrap. Mozzarella, cheddar, or pepper jack would all be great options.

  • Add Extra Veggies: If you’d like, try adding some bell peppers, red onion, fresh greens, tomatoes, carrots, jalapeños, or avocado for even more flavor and additional nutrients.

FAQs

  • If you don’t want to use a lavash wrap (or your grocery store is out), feel free to swap it out in favor of regular flour tortillas. You can use any other kind of tortilla that you’d like, if you'd prefer, just be aware that the nutrition information will change a little based on the tortilla you choose. You could even make this recipe using  lettuce wraps. Wrap the filling mixture in romaine lettuce and parchment paper. You'll be able to peel off the parchment paper as you go to help keep it wrapped tightly and make it easier to eat.

  • If you keep your ingredients separated in the fridge, they should stay fresh for about 3-4 days. If you have leftovers of your wrap, store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

  • This recipe is pretty easy to make dairy-free, whether you need to strictly avoid dairy or you just want to cut back. Swap the cheese for dairy-free cheese or leave it out entirely. Use a dairy-free ranch dressing (or dairy-free yogurt mixed with ranch seasoning) in place of the regular ranch.

This quick and easy BBQ chicken wrap recipe is a great option for busy days or weekly meal preps. Full of flavor and packed with protein, you can eat this wrap warmed up, cold, or even take it to go. It's an easy dinner the whole family will love!
